As a leading logistics specialist, freight broker, fleet owner, and real estate investor, Samantha Smith’s career has been one built from the ground up. As a natural-born leader, Samantha has merged her passions for advocacy, mentorship, and woman empowerment into the fabric of her brand, Logistics Chic. Confidence and knowing how to navigate adversity has made Samantha one of the few successful Black woman-led, owned, and operated freight brokerages and fleet owners within the trucking industry. Samantha excelled in academia as a young woman, graduating high school a year early with honors, exceeding societal limitations and expectations long before she began breaking boundaries. She is the first grandchild in her family to graduate from college and pursue further education, and with her aptitude for learning and curiosity for tangible and results-oriented thinking, she earned an MBA from Strayer University with a concentration in project management. Her ability to develop, implement, and streamline processes, alongside her keen insights would soon connect Samantha to an unexpected career path in trucking. Throughout her career, she has been able to not only advance her own business, but also improve supply chain management for others, combining her interest in implementing technical solutions with her skills in information technology from her tenure as an IT Specialist with the Department of Defense. This combination of tech and business expertise served her well throughout the years, setting the groundwork for her future ventures. Without any prior experience, Samantha taught herself the intricacies and regulations of a new field – and has reaped the rewards of a business that is nearing its 10 th year in operation. Established in 2012, Elite Freight Services consistently delivers customized shipping solutions that meet their customers’ distinctive needs and fulfill their unique shipping demands. Her knack for incorporating problem-solving modeling throughout her business framework has only grown as she expanded her reach and created Advanced Transport Solutions in 2018 - a freight brokerage company that provides world-class, third-party logistics and freight brokerage services across North America. Samantha’s intentionality is not only evident in her fleet ownership and management strategies, but it is also reflected in the relationship she has cultivated with her employees. Her competitive rate strategy allows her to share this framework with her staff, allowing them to prosper financially while also achieving balance between work and personal life. She is also the co founder of Leading Ladies of Logistix, a multi-faceted mentorship organization designed to be an incubator resource tool empowering women to be successful within the industry. Combining her heart of service, business acumen, and industry experience, she branched out on her own to coach aspiring logistics professionals. From Gen Z to baby boomers, math teachers to stay-at-home moms, Samantha’s deep knowledge of trucking and logistics and approachability has helped launch the businesses of hundreds of women. Driven to share her expertise, Samantha saw a need to assist her peers who faced the racial disparity of the pandemic. When COVID brought many industries to their knees, she quickly took action, creating virtual educational programs and coaching seminars for women looking to empower themselves and their families. Through her mentorship organization, trucking and freight knowledge, and various business platforms she continues to leave her mark, building safe spaces for women to thrive in a cutthroat industry. With her far reaching impact and resources, Samantha shares her insights beyond the world of trucking and logistics. As the co-owner of two real estate businesses: Advanced Property Solutions and Elite Property Management, LLC, a Section 8 property management and real estate investment firm, she focuses on bridging the gap between access to resources and affordable quality modern housing, removing the stigma about what affordable housing should look like in the Central Ohio market. Samantha is a proud Ohio resident, Buckeye fan, wife, and mother to five children. Her success across various industries speaks to her ingenuity, grit, and tenacity in refusing to accept the status quo. Samantha’s career trajectory continues to teach her children the power of hard work – and the joy that comes from pursuing passion over tradition.
